Currently, goniometers are the measuring device used to obtain this data. Proper use of the goniometer requires training and is usually performed by an occupational therapist. The goniometer measures each joint at a time, while our software measures all joints all the same time and does not require special training to use it. The goniometer is operator-dependent and can be uncomfortable for the patient it also requires proper cleaning after each use and is subject to material wear-and-tear. The software does not have the aforementioned issues since it does not require direct contact to the patient.
This software uses an off-the-shelf infrared camera to capture real time positional data of the hand joints. The software will provide range of motion of the hand in the traditional standard format used by health care professionals. Also, it can provide real-time angles for motion analysis as well as speed of the finger movements.
